ABOUT ME

After successfully completing her fashion studies at the Technical School for Fashion and Clothing in The Hague and the Utrecht School of Arts, Dorrith de Roode started working as an independent designer in fashion. During her studies she did several interships and two of them in Antwerp with Walter van Beirendonck and Dirk Schönberger. Since then, her love for Antwerp and Antwerp fashion has never gone away and she still works for Walter van Beirendonck a few times a year. After her studies she scored high as a finalist of the Robijn Fashion Awards, the BLVD Fashion Prize, De Kunstanjer and won the audience award as self-employed person of the year in 2014. The combinations of her two studies, technical and creative, have shaped her into the designer she has become today. The concept, design and perfect finish are all equally important in her work. Everything from A to Z of the design process, comes from her own hand and even during her studies at the art academy she could not choose what she liked doing most. She found everything in the creative field interesting and fascinating and took extra classes in Graphic Design in the second year of the art academy. Together with her sister she started the fashion and accessory brand Les Soeurs Rouges in 2009 and since 2011 she has been teaching in making and designing clothes in De Mode Centrale and Studio Bias Cut. She taught dozens of people the fashion profession. The people from the international community in the city of The Hague, give her lessons an extra international touch and with that, the lessons are not only educational and relaxing, but also bring people from all over the world together in a joyful way! Since 2024, Dorrith also teaches at the Gerrit Rietveld academy in Amsterdam.
